In this guide, we walk through a real-world severely damaged iPhone 13 Pro no signal repair case where the device was literally run over by a car. You’ll learn how to diagnose missing baseband firmware, restore damaged middle-layer pads, evaluate Face ID failure, replace the mid-frame, and handle camera calibration using the REFOX and RP30 tools.

Initial Assessment: Beyond Just Cosmetic Damage

Before opening the phone, the issues were already obvious:

• Cracked and bent stainless-steel frame
• Completely shattered front display
• Rear camera housing caved in
• Logic board contaminated with debris
• Battery swelling signs
• Back glass impact around the lens area

Tools & Parts Checklist

Tools

Step-by-Step Repair Process

Disassembly & Damage Mapping

We begin by removing the broken display and disconnecting all internal flexes.
Inside, we discover:

• Dislodged camera bracket
• Damaged Taptic Engine connector
• Corroded screws and brackets
• A seriously bent middle frame

A complete teardown is necessary to evaluate every module.

System Check – A Storm of Errors

Inside iOS diagnostics, we see:

• Display → Unknown Part
• Camera → Unknown Part
• Battery → Service, low capacity
• Modem Firmware → Missing
• No cellular signal
• Wi-Fi not available
• Bluetooth not available
• Rear camera stuck (no 0.5× or 3×)
• TrueDepth/Face ID completely unresponsive

When an iPhone 13 Pro shows missing modem firmware, no Wi-Fi, and no Bluetooth, it almost always means one thing:

👉 Logic board middle layer damage.

Time for a deeper dive.

Logic Board Inspection

Under the microscope, we check:

• PMIC area
• Display connector pins
• Baseband shield
• Middle-layer solder joints

Luckily, the logic board is still repairable, requiring only cleaning and several minor connector corrections.

Middle Frame Straightening

The frame was so twisted that it prevented component alignment.
Using professional straightening equipment, we:

• Heat the frame
• Reshape corner pressure points
• Restore flatness for display installation

This step is critical for ensuring waterproof sealing and screen fitment.

Battery & Internal Module Replacement

To ensure reliability, we replace:

• The swollen battery
• Broken loudspeaker
• Damaged rear camera module
• Cracked display assembly

All components are aligned with factory-level calibration.

Final Result

After hours of board-level work, microsoldering, frame rebuilding, and camera serialization, the iPhone 13 Pro returns to life—minus Face ID.

• Modem → Restored
• Signal → Restored
• Wi-Fi → Restored
• Bluetooth → Restored
• Camera → Fully working
• Battery → Calibrated
• Screen → Paired
• iOS → Updated
• Face ID → Permanently lost (IR CMOS cracked)

Total restoration cost: ~$260.

Was it worth saving?
For a phone crushed under a car—absolutely.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to read the answer.

Q1Can an iPhone 13 Pro with severe structural damage still be repaired?

Yes. With frame straightening, module replacement, and careful board inspection, most severely damaged units can be restored.

Q2Does replacing the frame affect Face ID?

Not directly — but improper alignment can. Always check the Face ID flex and dot projector before reassembly.

Q3What parts are most commonly damaged on severely cracked iPhone 13 Pros?

Display, cameras, frame, battery, loudspeaker, and internal brackets.

Q4Is logic board damage common in heavy impact cases?

Impact doesn’t always break the board, but it often causes connector pin deformation or shielding dents.

Q5Should refurbishers replace the back glass or the entire housing?

For heavy damage, replacing the full housing is more efficient and ensures proper alignment.

Conclusion

This iPhone 13 Pro serious damage repair might have seemed hopeless at first, but with the right skills and tools, almost anything can be brought back to life. Whether you’re a technician, refurbisher, or upgrading your repair skills, complex restorations like this one are what sharpen your craft and push the boundaries of repairability.
